Firewalls and PVQP.exe
Does anyone know what PVQP is? Zonealarm starting shutting down automatically after a few seconds so I uninstalled it and installed Sygate firewall- and it did the same thing- just shut down after a few seconds. So I looked at what else was running and saw PVQP.exe (it was in the Windows/System). I stopped the program and uninstalled it- and the firewalls began working normally again.
I've did a Google search and a search on Microsoft but could not find anything about it. Any info in this? |

it was probably a virus or trojan. There are viruses that'll shut down your firewall. It may have been a new variant of one because I couldn't find any info on that file name either.

That's what I was thinking, however, PC-Cillin didn't detect it, nor did Ad-Aware 5.62 or an online scan for trojans.

It could have been a new variant of a known virus or a new virus altogether. Your antivirus program won't detect a new virus or a new variant of a known one until new definitions to detect it are released by your av programs maker and you install them. Too bad you deleted it. You could have sent the file to Symantec and they could tell you if it's a new virus or not.

PVQP.exe
Do you synch with a PDA and/or use Lotus Notes.
There is a Pervasive QuickPlace (PvQP) that enables synching material with Lotus Notes. Don't know if or how it would affect a firewall. The Old Man |

No, I don't use a PDA or Lotus notes- really have no idead what program this would be associated with.

PVQP.exe
Do a search of your hard drive and locate the executable. Right-click on it and choose Properties, then click on the Version tab, if it is there. There may be some helpful information there. If not, don't know what to tell you. I'm drawing a blank everywhere else. Good luck.
