DSL Ping DNS Server

I have 768/128 DSL. I'm just wondering if this is normal or should I be concerned. When I ping my DNS server, it times out. If I open my browser and go to that address, the page loads fine. If I run tracert the first hop is very slow. 520ms, 1905ms, 1290ms are the times. The rest of them are between 30-80ms then after 8 hops it just times out. Is this normal or should I investigate further?

HackinCowboy,

That first hop is long and the number of hops is high. Best bet is to goto DSL Reports. THey've got a wealth of tips, tricks, tweaks and tests that should help you out. It's a great source.

At the top where it says "links recommended...", get DrTCP, and start with RWIN setting of 14520. The above forum is also a good place to observe and make posts.
