After upgrading one of the pc’s at the office to IE 6.0, my PC Mech password is no longer saved and I have to enter in every time I want to post. I get the little Windows dialog box asking me if I want Windows to remember my password and I’ve checked “yes”. Still, my password is not saved. I’ve upgraded my pc at home and have no problems. Any suggestions?

Tools, Internet options, Content tab. Select "auto complete" then check the box for user names & passwords".

Well, how about under your Profile, edit options (for PCMech) and check the auto login...
and/or find *.*pwl and delete. Last edited by SARGE; 03-14-2002 at 05:51 PM. |

SARGE all that stuff is set up correctly in "profile". Weird thing is, it shows me as a member "browsing the board" so a cookie is being read when I return to this site, but I still have to log in everytime I want to post.

DL had this problem with NS and had to use IE 6. in this forum. Lawman, do you still have another browser on pc you could try? If it works IE 6 obviously has a problem, but we've checked everything I can think of. Unless one of the mods has a suggestion concerning PCMech. I'll scratch around some more.
The Windows PWL file may be screwed, that's why I was wondering what you found in the *.*pwl list. I've had to delete this file before (created anew automatically) when it got corrupted. A shot in the dark, perhaps. Using Win98, right? Last edited by SARGE; 03-14-2002 at 09:49 PM. |

Sarge, I've also got Opera at the office so I'll try that too. The pwl file just has my name as usual. Yeah, I'm using 98SE. Same OS at home too and it works fine.

Still not working correctly at the office. The posting "times" are wrong too, even though it's set to the correct time zone. Works fine at home though.

LawyerRon
I was wondering if there may be something unusual with your machine at work and what it does with cookies? Might be worth looking at. |
