Strange
Hi guys,
Just been to see a neighbours computer(PIII 667Mhz, 310Mb RAM, SF-11561V-R9A 56k modem).Computer dials up no probs, but as soon as any page loads up fully the computer freezes for around about 20 seconds. So I set about weeding out the prob. Changed the modem = no change. Installed IE6 = No change.Reset the internet settings to default = no change. Changed ISP = no change.Stopped all unwanted progs on startup = no change. Strange one, Ive done a search through the forum but havent found anything like this. Any other little things to try?Cheers in advance. |

Does it only freeze when connected to the net? Install ad-aware which is free and scan for spyware. http://www.lsfileserv.com/index.html

Is there a NIC installed? Is it set to acquire IP from DHCP? If it is a NIC not connected to a network try giving it an IP address of 192.168.0.x and Netmask 255.255.255.0
Also check and remove unnecessary network components. Also a good idea to run a netstat -a command in a DOS prompt and check whats being openned (works best if its a brand new bootup and network connection) |

Yup only freezes when a page fully loads on the net
No it does not have a NIC I'll run ad-aware, and clear the history and temp. internet files and get back to yas. If theres no luck I think Im gonna reformat. |
