Angry Fire IE 6.0: Getting Application errors Galore!!

My default browser is IE 6.0 and lately it seems like I can't stay online for more than 5 minutes without the IE 6.0 Application Error window popping up (the annoying window that tells me it's "sorry for the inconvenience" and then asks me if I want to let Microsoft know exactly which web sights I have been browsing under the pretense that it will help them troubleshoot any future problems, but it's merely an attempt to further invade my f***ing privacy!! ) Of course there is no other option but to close out the window which sends me back to the desktop.
I have contacted my ISP (Comcast High Speed Internet) REPEATEDLY about this problem and they told me that they have had no other complaints on this issue and that they fully support IE 6.0. I must also say that I'm running a Dual Boot Sytem with XP on one Hard Drive and Win 98 SE on the other Hard Drive. My browser for Win 98 is IE 5.5 and I've had no problems whatsoever with that browser so I assume there is nothing wrong with my connection.
I was on the phone with Microsoft Tech Support for over two hours last week trying to correct this problem. They thought the problem might have been a corrupt browser so I was guided through all the steps of repairing/reinstalling IE 6.0. This did not solve the problem.
After a while, it was discovered that if I close out all other applications in the Startup Menu (Panda Antivirus Platinum,Sygate Personal Firewall), the Application Errors do not occur. Microsoft more or less passed the buck, telling me that there must be a problem with my Antivirus or Firewall.
But I'm using the SAME Firewall/Antivirus on my 98 Hard Drive and, like I said, there are no problems with IE 5.5.
The problem ONLY occurs whenever a web page is loading and when I'm switching back and forth between web sights.
I have a friend who has the same ISP and he tells me that he is having the same problem with IE 6.0. However he is using Win 98, which kills my other idea that there might be a problem with XP. He is also using a different Antivirus (McAfee) and Firewall (Zone Alarm). I advised him to try browsing after closing out all other applications and sure enough, he said that the Errors went away!
I thought there might have been a problem with Java but Microsoft had me install Java Virtual Machine and that didn't help. Before that, I had the XP Patch from Sun installed but that wasn't any help either.
It's gotten to the point where I can't even use XP/IE 6.0 as my browser because of all the Errors.

I don't know what else to do or how to correct it. If there is a problem with Comcast not being able to handle IE 6.0 then they aren't telling me .

If there is a compatibility problem with IE 6.0 and Antivirus/Firewall Software in general, then Microsoft isn't tellng me either!

The info given from the Error message usaully reads something like :
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

App Name iexplore.exe

App Ver. 6.0.2600.0

Mod Name msvcrt.dll

Mod Ver. 7.0.2600.0

Is there anyone out there getting these errors as frequently as I am??
Does anyone have a clue as what could be the cause??

Thanks in advance

This is a tough one because my kids can't use IE 6 on their system wich runs win 98se, but I have no problem running IE 6 on my XP. Make sure your antivirus and firewall are compadible with XP. I use Norton Internet Security 2002 on my kids and my PC. Funny thing is even with Nortons on their system I still can't use IE 6 best I can do their is IE 5.5. If all else fails I would say you proably have a corrupt CD.
