OK this is what happened, I downloaded Red Alert 2 maps off Grokster this morning, I opened it & this picture of a girl came up on the screen (sorry no porn) then it disapeared a zip box opened then my system went slow (& thts unusually for my system) so i closed the box down after a few seconds. A few hours ago I sent a file from grokster to one of me m8s (not the maps) the same happened to him but his virus scanner detected but it still escaped into his hard drive, he said that its changed his control msexe files i think so that they won't open. If that happened to him why didn't it happen to me, by the way I've checked my drive several times with PC Cillin 2000, i have rebooted my pc too & nothing has changed so is there a need to worry or not ?

If that finds nothing then download The Cleaner which is free to try and run a scan with it. The Cleaner is a trojan specific scanner that can find trojans that av scanners can miss. www.moosoft.com

And if you friend can't open programs without an error popping up then he definately has a trojan or virus, probably sub7. After you're sure you're clean email him the link to get The Cleaner or use a web based email like Yahoo to send it. Also send him this link and tell him to download exefix08.com and run it. It'll reverse the changes the trojan made to the registry that disabled programs. (exefix08.com will not work in winXP)

I think he has reformated, but i'm not sure I haven't seen him online since. I reformated too, I couldn't open some games like red alert, but also i couldn't use MSCONFIG so i knw there was something wrong, thx for the links I'll be sure to use this next time & i'll forward them on. I've updated my Pc cillin now from the website it even found a virus which I had burnt onto a cd before I reformated, PE_WEIRD but it should be alright if use the cd without extracting it shouldnt it?? thx ne how
