Error on page message
Recentely I disabled the debug script in I.E.6 manily because evertime I would visit a web page that would have errors on it It would ask would I like to debug now.
My thought about this is why in the hell would I want to try to correct someone elses mistake on their web page, besides I have no idea on how to do this, I have checked out the debug program and I am completly lost. What was Microsoft thinking when they added this feature? You would think that if their is an error the web host would fix their own mistakes. I surf the internet to read or buy items of interest not to perform work on someone elses site. Any thoughts on this one?

Umm .. I like the "What was Microsoft thinking when they..." rant .. a lot
, but its kinda misdirected in this instance. This isnt so you can debug it for someone else .. it is to know that there is a possible problem on the website that you are surfing to; and you could have some unwelcome results .. and if your browser crashes, it isnt necessarily M$' fault but possibly the page coders' error that caused it.On the other hand, a lot of people are surfing to websites that is integral to their internet life .. and as such, if a crash occured, or if they filled a form and it kept spewing error messages, it helps by sending a mail to the site webmaster saying: "I subscribed to your site, and this is whats causing the error by my browser." It is much better than the client having to send a message that was something like "I cant fill your form, whats going on??" That will help the client get to the material much faster. And then dont forget the web developers who code, and have to wade thru the differences in code between the various browsers and the various versions of browsers, it always helps to know why a particular version of a particular browser doesnt work well with the site. You could always tell IE not to show you the error, but keep an unobtrusive little yellow exclamation at the bottom, to remind you that there is an error. |

Thanks for the reply
I have noticed a lot of sites I go to manily new pages that have all of the errors like CNN.com and Washingtonpost.com,but is their an easier way to understand what the message is trying to say. Sure I would let the webmaster now only if I new how to read the error. I have always been the type to want to learn as much as I can about pc lanquage but sometimes I get frustrated when I can't figure it out. |
