CRASH Video files that cause pop-ups? What is going on.

My friend let me borrow a cd he burnt of videos he downloaded of of morpheus.

Some of them, when run, cause popups. Those video may be in mpeg or asf or avi formats.

Any comments? I've never encountered this before.

It's rather easy -- and obnoxious. Best part -- you can't do thing one about it. Unless you opened the video file in a browser like Mozilla and had the open new window script turned off.

I used to have this pop-up stopper on my old PC. Just search for it... it prevents any internet windows from opening. You have to disable it before opening IE or anything like that. Effective though
