The AOL member services number above will get you where you need to go. Better give yourself about a half hour to do it, though. They don't like to let you leave. It's like a cult, you know.

With any ISP, always have the unsubscribe number handy. With AOL, it's easiest to do it in the weeeee hours of the morning!

If you want to let them talk you into it, they may give you some free months to remain a customer!

I've never been a member and get them all the time. My relatives who don't even have a PC used to save theirs for me thinking they are valuable.

They would be if there was a way to reuse them as CDR's.

Just call them and you have to stand your ground with those idiots. They will give you a couple free months because you want to leave then if you don't call them back after those free months they will start charging your card again. You have to just tell them no for everythin and just turn off your service. They won't turn it off right away either they will wait until the subscrition runs out so you jaust have to stand your ground.

It's been a long while since I stopped my subscription, but I remember it was a royal pain. Just keep telling them no. Learning how to say "no" is one of the best skills a person can have. Remember, AOL is trying to get you to buy something that you don't need. You don't have to listen to that. Just keep on telling them that you want to quit.

Those cd's were collecting dust for the longest around these parts. You should see what a .44 magnum makes of 'em in "target practice".

Haven't tried the 44 yet. I shoot mainly 357 and 45 auto. I have a regular Ruger Blackhawk 44, but don't shoot it much. I have small hands and that sucker rocks and rolls me. Went shooting with it one day and after 6 rounds my left hand used for support and to steady my right was bleeding where the metal butt was digging into my palm from the recoil. Been thinking about the Redhawk 44 becuse of different design and rubber grips.

Yo Salvatore, You're in the family now, ain't no gettin' out. Capiche?

On a lighter note...It only took me one call, no questions asked. But this was back in 1998, might be different now.

My brother tried for months to get unsubscribed from AOHell.
He finally moved from Ohio to Colorado but they still persisted. He is kinda uninformed about things with his PC, anyway, such as ISP accounts and such. I talked him into calling and standing firm. I also told him to tell them up front that he was going to record their phone conversation as a record of his service cancellation. This finally got it done!

AOL sucks!!!

They've even insulted me when I unsubscribed last time! You know ho AOL always releases a "new version" of it's software? Like 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 . Well, about 2 years ago I signed up for one, then cancelled my acount. Then when another version came out I signed up checked it out and cancelled acount. After third time with a DIFFERENT version the guy tells me "it's a service violation, and that I am some kind of thief stealing bandwith from them"

AOL sucks so bad, I still have 2 free months left from them I you couldnt pay me to use them. If you dont cancel something like 5 days before your payment date they will go ahead and chanrge you for another month, and also even if you paid for the next month if you call them to cancel they will still cut you compleatly off, even though you paid for the month.

I liked it better when they sent their software on floppies. You could reformat those, slap a new label on them and use them. Of course their code has become too bloated to fit on a floppy anymore.

All that spyware they have takes up a lot more room now. Ah the good 'ole days of AOL 2.0 I remember them well. I cancelled after 3.0. I remember not liking the whole idea that it would take me almost a half hour just to dial up. Those were the pre-broadband days. *Hugs DSL Modem*

If you really want to get rid of AOL you have to ask to talk to their "Customer Saves Deparment", when you cancel the account. Ask to be transferred immediately after the initial cancelling.

When you talk to the person in customer saves ask them to delete your information from all future mailings, email, and offers. Make it clear you do not want to be contacted.

They are kind of tricky. They will ask if you want to be deleted from future phone calls. If you say, "sure"; they won't call you, but send you a bunch of other junk trying to get you to sign up again. Make sure you specify you want NO future contact from AOL or its affiliates.
