RocketPipe

Has anyone ever heard of this software?

Aparently its some form of downloading agent such as Kazaa or Morpheus however it seems that you don't need usernames or passwords to use it.

Also here is the sneaky thing, it integrates itself into your browser...

If anyoen has any websites based on trouble that this software has caused can you please post them here Thanks

As with any of these products, I'd be very careful. The recent discoveries about Kazaa have opened a lot of eyes. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!

Could not find any detailed info. Only vague terms. CNET has some user reviews (58% positive and 42% negative). Apparently RocketPipe is related (by an equity investment) to TVT Records who struck a deal with Napster in March. Here's the release.

Here's a good review

"Wow - finding MP3s and other stuff is really easy!"
This is an interesting concept. This tool sends me links, news and other stuff a few times a day. Neat content too. It also has other content areas too. Pleasant surprise. Very cool stuff!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a not so good review

"Another Commercial Promo Gimmic"
By looking at the style of positive replies it not difficult to figure out that they all were written by the authours of the program. This program has nothing to do with MP3s or music. It just a frontend to your browser which does nothing else but sticks the commercial/promotional URLs up your nose. It doesn't play anything and doesn't let you search for anything - completely useless commercial gimmic. Ease of use - because it doesn't do anything useful or usable. Bad audio quality - because there is none. You'll find more stuff on MP3, Yahoo, MSN or whatever.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And this

"Has nothing to do with MP3s"
This product has nothing to do with mp3 music so I don't understand it's name. It's just a SPAM pusher. It just sits on your desktop and receives SPAM. Has nothing to do with MP3s. I tried adding some more lists and some were blank. The MP3 columm had only a single spam message. Asolutely horrible product. Don't waste your time on this hoax.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And then there's a few of these

"Delivers Porn to your Desktop"
If you want Porn download this client. Most categories are blank. Whoever is in charge of filling categories is asleep at the wheel. Very buggy. Hangs my system.

Hope that helps.
