why do the web sites have red "X"s in them
It seems that my computer goes through moments where all the buttons and pictures on what ever website I choose are incomplete. They're replaced with little white box's with red "X"s. For sites that you just read with no pictures, thats fine but it really distorts my view.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is this a setting? whats the deal? |

Images not loading for some reason.
From a dos prompt, run this... >ping www.(whateversite).com If you get packet loss when you ping the site a couple of times, that's why. Might be phone line issue, might be ISP issue, but that's the next step. See if that's your problem first. |

This could happen for a variety of reasons.
If the person who uploaded the pic did not upload it properly this could be the cause. Now if you the user are getting it on all sites that could be your browser settings. |

I'm not sure which browser you are running.
If it is Explorer 6.0 you can go to control panel click on internet options click on the advanced tab at the bottom of the page click restore defaults then click ok. |

Is your Show Pictures checked in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, scroll down and it is found under Multimedia.

Stop winking at me!!!

A lot of reasons for that.
Lost Packets Some pics run off sites that are blocking them; at one point I couldn't see the eyeball (view below) at work untill they let me have access to that site. The site is having problems with that page or link. |

Also, I did see this once on a machine that had an older version of Internet Explorer. Upgraded to IE 5.5 (latest at that time) and it fixed it.
