Go to Start>settings>Control panel>Add/Remove Programs, uninstall IE6 when ask what you want to do,choose restore previous version of Internet Explorer.

I tried running IE6 on both my PC and my kids PC and had nothing put trouble, IE6 doesn't work too well with Win98 or WinME for that matter I had both OS before turning to XP. It seems that it was causing problems all the time, and a tech at Microsoft once told me that IE6 was not a good choice for 98SE and suggested using IE 5.5 with service tools.

When your ready to download IE 5.5 you can choose what programs to install with it and you can pick what you think you will really need for your perticular use, and you can install some of wha IE6 offers.

I found that IE6 has more security fixes than anything else and you can install the new ones with IE 5.5 when you customize it before downloading it.

Thumbs down re:

Tried to do that but all it comes up with when i try that is to repair or add a componet. The return to a previous version is greyed out. I tried to download and install IE 5.5 but with IE6 it will not let me. I went as far as to reload windows but to no avail. is there any more ideas out there? i have been messing with it most of the day now and i sure hope i dont have to live with this. thanks in advance guys!

Unless someone else comes up with a suggestion, I myself would reinstall windows from scratch that means "fdisk" and start all over again.

Then I would go back to microsoft update and install IE5.5.

Good Luck
