Cool ?

I'm curious why this thread was closed http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?threadid=33987 when the same question was asked by Jenni is this thread and it was left open (I can get just internet for $65 a month, but hubby wants the Weather Channel again. Guess I'll have to talk it over with him later.

BTW, I heard that if you do get just internet, that you can split the cable and get some basic channels anyway, because they can't\don't separate the internet signal from the rest. Does anyone know if that is true?

It was stated why it was closed. Some cable companies will call it theft of service if you install a splitter to go to your TV even though they haven't filtered out the cable service.

You should always consult your service agreement and should you decide on your own will to ignore it, you are liable for your own actions. My cable company doesn't state in the contract that you can't, nor are they quick to admit that you can split the cable to go to your TV, but at the same time, they won't do anything about it if you are splitting it. Other cable companies would strongly frown against this. At a minimum, you could get banned from their service, but consider the maximums.
