java enabled browser?
I'm trying to use a chat portion of an automobile forum. I know nothing about chat, but a lot of people on this forum use it. It is a 'spinchat' site, if you are familar with that. When I click on the 'chat' icon on the forum, the page loads, first displaying 'you must have a java enabled browser'. The page continues to load, but the chat portion doesn't work for me, it is just a big TV looking screen, with some buttons at the bottom. The text window is missing altogether. Very faintly, just below the url bar, but still inside the TV looking box, you can still see the 'you must have a java enabled browser'. I'm using IE5.0, provided by Earthlink(my ISP) and have even tried to use the chat by opening the IE 5.0 that came with the OS (W95). Still doesn't work. In control panel/internet options/ I have the 3 boxes checked as 'enabled' that are related to Java script. Is there somewhere else I need to go to enable this function? (I'll try to attach a picture of the chat window) Everyone tlls me there should be a green text bar down near the bottom of the screen in the attached jpg. Any clue as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried going to Windows Update and getting the newest MS Virtual Machine?
