Online Credit Card Payments Question
I want to be able to take credit card (visa/delta/SoLo etc...) payments over the internet, im trying to set up a small buisness.
I have contacted the buisness side of Lloyds TSB, and they quoted me like a £300 setup fee, plus a minuimum £25 a month out of the trasactions They also told me i would need a P.S.P (payment service povider) which i looked at acouplke they suggested and found www.protx.com the best/cheepest. I have all this information, and it seems like it is the way to go about it all, but is there not a cheeper way. I'll be paying LloydsTSB £600 for a year (minimum) and then paying protx aswell. Does anyone know how i should go about doing this? I also wonder what service LloydsTSB are planning on providing for that £600, like do i need them - what do i get for that money. Hope someone with a bit of knowledge in this field reads this post, im a complete newbie at this. Kind regards, James (p.s - im in the UK) |

Paypal
Have you considered a service like Paypal?
I am not sure if they do business in the UK, but that might be a less expensive choice. |

You can also check out CCNow http://www.ccnow.com/ They take quite a bit per transaction but you don't have any setup fees or monthly fees. Paypal is definitely cheaper but CCNow offers more features specific to selling products online.

As has been pointed out Paypal is a option but keep in mind that for someone to pay you using Paypal they must be a member. It is mainly a secure way for individuals to transfer money between themselves. I use Paypal as prefered method of payment for stuff I sell on ebay, but also take personal checks and money orders as some people do not want to sign up. For that reason Paypal might not be a good fit for your business. But if you don't have the volume to jusitfy regular credit cards, then Paypal would be a good fit, knowing that a small segment won't use it.

Thanks to everyone who replied,
i tried the http://www.ccnow.com site and it seemed good, but as mentioned it does seem expensive I appreciate the links and any more link are really welcome, I tried PayPal on my current site, but isnt popular as many dont have accounts with them and dont want to. That is the main reason why im trying to be able to take credit/debit card payment (for a new buisness idea) Thanks alot for the replys, any more ideas are welcome, Regards, James |

I've seen a lot of people who sell on ebay UK use something called nochex, which is similar to PayPal (I think), but UK based. Here's the link http://www.nochex.co.uk
