Firewall

I'm on 56K modem connection, I found a while back my firewall was slowing my connection (my download speeds decreased which is a terrible thing when they're only 5KB/sec in the first place)

I am connected to the net for around 14 hours a day (obviously not always sitting at my keyboard)

SHOULD I have a firewall? Am I really in grave danger?

Thanks,

Even though the slower connection speed isn't as tantalizing to a hacker as higher bandwidths are, I'm a firm believer in keeping that baby up. If your looking to speed up downloads you might try something such as download accelerator. It helped pull my ADSL speeds up about 10kb.

To answer the question directly, yes, you should have a firewall. I use dialup and ZA Free works fine.

If ZA was giving you problems, completely uninstall it following the instructions on ZA's support site before reinstalling it. I have had to do this a couple of times over the past couple of years, it happens.
