WINIPCFG for networks only?

DL called today and said 1 pc wouldn't open start page or browse, using any browser. That was with DSL. Had her try the dial up and no dice. This evening I ran winipcfg and "release all", rebooted and could then browse with DSL and dial up. I never tried this when had only dial up so I don't know if it's applicable, but whatever it did reset everything. I never heard about winipcfg until started a LAN with DSL.

Hey sarge. You can also do the same thing at the command prompt. just type ipconfig /release_all. At the next prompt type ipconfig /renew_all, and you should be set to go without a restart. If you do the release and renew using winipcfg, you get the same results. Restarting ins't necessary. I don't know if it works for dial-up or not. If I'm not mistaken, it is used to release and obtain IP info from a DHCP server.

Thanks, bud. I thought it was just for dhcp also, but dial up started working also. At first I thought it was the re-enabling of Zone Alarm on her pc. I did that the day before after she picked up some virii.
