ie6 history problems

on the computer i'm working on right now (windows xp, with ie6) it doesn't seem to retain a history. it's done this since i first had it set up and i've reformatted it several times and it never keeps the history, whether i've visited 5 sites before or i just started it up there is always nothing in the history pane on the left-hand side of the browser when i bring it up. this is sort of annoying because i use the history sometimes to remember sites i've been to. this computer is behind a LinkSys router which is behind a LinkSys cable modem on an AT&T cable line. i also have the McAfee firewall program running. any help would be greatly appreciated. i've tried searching on google and at microsoft for a solution to no avail. thanks as always...

Have you tried just highlighting all of them on the left side pane and clicking delete? Sometimes if you clear it in the options they stay there until you do that.

Oh man... It's early! The way I read that, I thought the problem was the history wasn't going away.... Sorry.

i've set it to store history for 60 days however nothing at all shows up under history, not even in the different sort by options. well, wait a minute, i just checked my history so i don't look like an absolute idiot and guess what? the entire history seems to be working. it's done this once before and then it stopped working again, and hasn't worked until now. i guess all those tweaks i did last night jolted something into working again. i'll keep you guys updated as to if it keeps working or not. thanks...
