Web pages don't open...
I am using a D-Link 10/100 NIC and running through a Linksys 4 port router into my Toshiba cable modem using RoadRunner cable service. I can easily connect to things like KaZaA Lite and download at high speeds, but when I try to go to some websites, it simply doesn't open. I know they aren't down cause I had just been there, or It'll work when I restart my computer or something. Sometimes it takes a long time, other times it won't happen at all.
What it does is it sits at the current website (I have no problem accessing my homepage) and the windows symbol in the upper right waves around a bit. It just sits there, does nothing. Anyone have any idea why this might happen, or what I could do to fix it? Thanks... I am using the system in my sig.

I have dsl with a netgear hub. My computer is the gateway computer and my roommate 's computer is connected through the hub. for some unknown reason, there are certain web sites he can't access but i can on the main computer. sorry i don't have an answer for you but someone suggested it's the cheap hub causing the problem.

Friend of mine was having the same problem on his DSL today - he did a power recycle on his modem (turn it off and unplug the power source, plug it back in) and that cleared it up.

I had to run WINIPCFG and "release all" to reset one pc. Those things happen.

You seem to be getting a throughput ok, maybe its a broblem with your O.S,
I know that windowsME has flaws with the winsock file on many occasions, this flaw / error allows traffic over the connection (pinging etc...) but no page loading, Its an idea to check it out, if you go to: start menu > run > sfc It will bring up a system, which allows you to extract the current winsock file from the O.S, then take things from there. |
