Heads Up, MOZILLA 1.0 Released!
Just so you know, I just checked out www.mozilla.org and finally, the final build of 1.0 is out. This is definately my favorite browser, so check it out...
(Don't forget to go to preferences, advanced, scripts and windows, and disable unwanted windows, NO POPUPS, ever!)

I just got it yesterday and it appears alot like an older Netscape. Seems to load pages really fast. I think Ill try it for a while.

I also noticed a setting to not display images if they come from a different server than the site you are on. NO AD BANNERS!

I tried Mozilla 1.0 RC 2 and thought it was sort of sluggish and uninstalled it from my system. I downloaded and installed Mozilla 1.0 and noticed quite a big speed difference between the two. Pages load pretty quickly on my PII 300MHz internet box. Guess I'll try this one out for awhile.

What are the Hot Keys in Mozilla to enter URL information. The one I'm interested in is the equivalent of one a I always use in IE. It's (Ctrl+Enter) to input the www and .com before and after the line address. Does anyone know what this is in Mozilla?

Ctrl+shift/L will pop open a window to enter a url. Works just like ctrl/O in IE.
Moz is nice - playing with it now - but I stil prefer Opera. |

DAMN!!! This thing smokes. I thought RC 1 was quick -- this thing makes IE look like a snail in some cases.
And I love all the installable add-ons -- Multizilla, mozBlog, Optimoz....god I love the open-source community. -Craig |

I don't like it b/c it screws up CSS stuff. Why make a browser that isn't compatible with stuff like that?

It is compatable with W3C CSS scripts. It's NOT compatable with IE specific CSS scripts. Why write HTML/CSS/XML code that is browser specific? Half the genius web designers in this world this we're all using IE -- we we're not. So they should be writing their code to W3C specs -- not M$ specs.

Can you go to my page view the source on the first page that comes up in the iframe window and tell me why it does not comply with W3C standards? The only difference in my code and what they say for the absolute positioning would be that I used class instead of ID. But should that make a difference. What is the difference in each one? When should one be used an not the other?
Thanks, Josh |

In all honesty, I know little about the actual coding, I just follow the news trends which say the mozilla browser is 100% compliant to W3C HTML and CSS. You can go to http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ to get a validator that you can link from your site. It will tell you if you are or aren't compliant.

Does anyone know why my code doesn't work in Mozilla or Opera but I know it works exactly right in IE(6 I think, I haven't tried another one.) and I'm pretty sure it works fine in Netscape 6.2. Sounds like some browsers are just sub-par to others. I don't even really like netscape. It seems really slow.

I also notice that it is not any faster than IE, though not slower. But i like using it for the fact that is isnt so bloated, and probably more secure with better/more regular updates.
Edit: I take that back. When downloading a file Mozilla taps out at apprx. 40kb/s while IE easily gets up to 200kb/s and further. What's with that.

It really does seem to have some nice features. I tried HAL's suggestion above and found images missing all over the place though. Even on the PCMECH home page the pictures of those products up near the top were gone, and some of the images on my verizon home page. I don't notice a major difference, but it does seem pretty good for me so far. Obviously by reading everyone's responses, it has to do with everyone's individual machines too, wether Mozzila works well for them.

I fixed the errors that the validator had a problem with such as the left and top need a unit. Those warnings that are showing are nothing I really care about. They aren't something that will mess up anything. Netscape and the others still don't show it right. There isn't any code within my CSS that is IE specific. The CSS code that I'm having a problem in w/ those browsers does not have any html code within it to mess up. The only problem could be that it's inside an iframe.

Hmmm - isn't iframe IE-specific?
