Trying to find out what sites have a link to our work site using Yahoo. I know I have done this before after seeing how to do it on another site. I know I typed in something followed by http://www.whateversite.com and I got all sites that had links back to http://www.whateversite.com. Anyone know how to do this? I cannot remember or find refernece to it anywhere.

Not sure about your question, but thought I'd point out that you've fallen for the same trap I did with that URL. Had a customer ping http://www.whateversite.com to make sure he was connected, and he types in the URL in IE, and voila, it's a porn site...

This is what I am talking about.

You can do a search on yahoo and if done right, you can find all the other sites that link back to a site that you might have done your self.

I did figure it out later last night. Here is what I was looking for and later remembered.

Go to Yahoo and type in links:www.pcmech.com and you can see all the other sites that have a link to this one.

BTW...I had know idea that was a porn site or I would have used a different one here, but I have it bookmarked now...heh!!

Yeah, that was one of my funnier support incidents. Told the guy to open a DOS prompt and "ping http://www.whateversite.com", and he says "ok, got all these numbers and stuff, four lines of em". And I'm saying "ok, what site did you put in", he says "whateversite.com, like you told me". I try to explain to him that it's not a real site and I meant for him to just pick a site he knew, so he ends up typing it in his browser to see what it is, and blam, porn site.

I wonder how many others have fallen for the same trick...
