Is ADSL all that?

I have had my ADSL line for about nearly a year,

Mostly it is great, but every four days or so i loose my connection, and on a dynamic IP it messes up my servers

When i get disconnected it isnt the modem powering down as the lights are both fine,
It isnt the modem loosing sync with my exchange as the light is still good,

Its like back when i had 56k, got auto-disconnected every 2 hours,
Its like im getting disconnected,

Would overloads do this?

The connection is used heavily most of the time, so im wondering if that could overload it

And the usb is not set to auto-powerdown in settings either,

Im baffled

If you have a USB modem, definately see if you can get an Ethernet one. USB modems are usually flakey and cause those problems you describe.

You can also upgrade to a static IP with your ISP...

Have you read your ISP's AUP? Are you allowed to run a server? If you arent allowed to, and yet you are running a server, then cringing about the dynamic IPs isnt something that can be helped. Regarding your auto-disconnects; check with your ISP it is possible that there is a problem at their end, or that they simply have a cap on a particular IP, and if you are exceeding incoming traffic (aka, they sniff a server) they might simply be setting a timeout value to prevent it - requiring you to re-acquire an IP. It might also be that when your computer enters any power-save mode it might be shutting off your USB devices; these are one of the first to go, because they are such power hogs.

In answer to your question - DSL is all that and more for me .. I wouldnt go back to diallup for all the sugar, money or women in the world.
