OPERA browser

I use it as a change of pace (6.0) but it has an annoying problem I can't fix. I empty cache and whatnot, but when I return to PCMech forums it says, "welcome back SARGE". I don't have much experience with Opera and am evidently missing something

You have to delete the cookies for that to disappear, look for an option to clear them.

Sarge,
I kinda like the "Welcome Back, Carlgif"

Sure is better than :What!! You back again".

So when I go through my cookies with "Cookie Viewer", I always leave this one.

Carl, "cookie viewer" cleaned some stuff, BUT PCMech still welcomes me back. Not that I mind, but this annoys me - something ain't being cleaned out.

Alt-P, Privacy, I have "throw away new cookies on exit" checked.

From the Opera support site:

Opera supports the exact same format for cookies as Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. This means that Opera will be able to accept all cookies that work with these browsers. Cookies are stored in the file named "cookie.dat" located in the main Opera directory (usually "C:\Program Files\Opera"). It is not possible to edit the file "cookie.dat" by hand in order to remove unwanted cookies from your hard drive, but you can download the Opera File Explorer and use this tool to view your cookies.

Opera File Explorer:

http://www.westelcom.com/users/jsegur/

In Opera 6, it's actually "cookies4.dat".

I have that box checked also, glc, but the file is huge, reading through the encryption I see some logins from April.

I think you can just delete that file to get rid of all the cookies - if you try that, delete it to the recycle bin just in case.

Did it recreate another huge one or a new empty one?
