Question How do I configure a sub-domain?

The server is an IBM Netfinity with NT 4.0 and IIS.

Any answer, suggestion and comment are welcome.

Thanks.

A subdoamin is like pcmech.com, with the extension, forum.pcmech.com, that is a subdomain.

Or, let's say that you have a site, something.com, and you host someone, host.something.com.

Sorry, I can't help you with subdomains.

You are talking about a Third level domain. Is this for internet use or internal use only or both?

assuming you have a domain like www.domain.com
and you want to create a sub domain like
corp.domain.com

in the dns server
you first need to add a dns "A" record for the sub
ip address in the domain

set up a directory on nt somewhere for you files to go.

run the internet service manager
right click on the server and select ne web site.

1st box asks for the web site name. you can use
corp.domain.com or whatever your subdomain is.

2nd box asks for the ip address. enter the same ip address that was used in the dns setup.

3rd box asks for the directory location.

after that you can set the rest of the web site properties
as usual
