Question Preview and dropdown menu not visible

I have a problem. My computer win 98 second edition settings have changed when I replaced theCMOS battery and I am not able to view dropdown menus in sites in IE whereas it is possible in Netscape. Another problem is that when the folder view is kept at 'view as webpage' i am not able toget the preview of the jpeg and gif or psd files which are selected. I have to open them fully for viewing them. How do I set it right. I do web deisgning and it is a pain if you can see thedropdown menus or image previews.

CMOS battery replacement will not or should not affect the OS and software. Folder views are under the Tools menu in all of the Windows folders. However you may need to repair or re-install IE or in your case virtual machine for 98.

Thanks, but how do I re-install the virtual machine? Can I do it without calling the service guy?

You will have to download it from MS, just go to google.com and type in Virtual Machine. One of the first links should be to the MS download site for it.

i reinstalled ie 5.5 service pack from ms site and there was an option for virtual machine also. I selected that and after the download, my comp is back to normal as before. Thanks a ton. But why and how does these get changed? Has Norton antivirus' script bloking got anything to do with that?

Hi morriswindgate, what do you mean by "virtual machine for 98"? Do you mean Java virtual machine? I can't see the relationship between JVM and previewing images, could you please tell me?
