Angry Fire MS Messenger GO AWAY!!!

Ok I've had enough!! I've gone through every program I can think of and I can't get rid of this annoying program!! I'm running windows XP professional. I keep it up to date, I've gone through all the settings in Outlook express, IE, Outlook. Everything I can find and I've shut them all off or designated that I don't want them to integrate with any of them. I've gone into messenger settings and told it NOT to run at startup, to run in the background, to run everywhichway but it still runs!!! I'm in hotmail the firewall notifies me that messenger is accessing the internet, I'm in outlook express browsing newsgroups and it pops up. Is there ANY way to get rid of this annoying little program!?!?!

Thanks

Here is another option for you to turn Messenger off.

Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Messenger
You can now modify whether it starts initially and/or whether it's to run at all.

Hope that helps. db

You can also download and install XP-Antispy then run it, it will get rid of messenger and also a few other things that run in the backround with XP that you probably dont want either.

Thanks guys, the fist option didn't work at all. But between the other 2 I think I was able to FINALLY get rid of that annoying little program.

Thanks
Gene
