I have a problem I'm trying to figure out...I am helping somebody running Windows 95, who 2 days ago restored her system, could connect to the net without a hitch, installed CallWave (internet voice mail service), had connection problems, and removed the program, not with Add/Remove Programs, but by sticking the icon in the Trash Bin....she now can not use Dial-Up Networking to connect..she recieves a "can not complete a DUN connection with server", and has also seen indication of missing inetmib1.dll (any ideas what that is utilized by?)....but, she CAN connect with HyperTerminal....I am trying to figure this out over the phone via a non-educated end user's eyes and ears...ANY ideas would be helpful....

Try using "add/ remove programs" again. It should still be there. Better yet if you have an uninstaller, use that for a more thorough uninstall. You can always use "Find" to find the program also, but don't delete it. It should be uninstalled to remove registry entries. You can right click on it and choose uninstall. If the "Icon" is still in the recycle bin try restoring it. If all else fails, install the program again (it will copy over itself), then uninstall it properly.

No idea on the internet men-in-black dll (), but remove/reinstall DUN and remove/reinstall network components, that fixes things most of the time.

control panel/add-remove programs/windows setup/details on communications/uncheck DUN/apply. Reboot then reverse the process to reinstall.

control panel/network/remove all components under configuration tab/ok/reboot. Reverse the process after rebooting by adding them back. You need Client for Microsoft Networks (under client/microsoft), Dial Up Adapter (under adapter/microsoft), and TCP/IP (under protocol/microsoft). If there's a network card in the machine, the adapters and protocols for it will reinstall on their own, so just let them go if that's the case, they won't hurt anything. Any AOL adapters or other such crap needs to go and not come back.
