Anybody know a good way or know a "free" program that will sort my favorites in IE6?
There's an MSKB article about it and having more than 180? (I forget exact#) IE6 will not sort correctly.
Help, I have too many..and need to sort...

What happens when you right click and select "sort by name?" Does it only sort some?

cobra,
Are all your favorites one big list?
When the favorites list got to the length of my screen, I catagorized them into folders. I named the folders Sports, Graphics, Tech sites, etc. I sort within each folder.
It sure cleaned up things and I can find a favorite much quicker.

Hi cobra,

This is a lot easier than most people think! and you don't need a special program, either!

"Favorites" are just shortcut files like any other, but are located in a specific directory, which is usually: C:\WINDOWS\Favorites

Open your favorite file manager or Windows Explorer, create your catagory directories (folders) as Kubie mentioned, and you can sort and move them around at will.

You HAVE to keep them in your Main Favorites directory, however, so Windows can find them !!

Happy organizing!!

um that does not work in IE, at least mine.
You can do it in explorer, but they do not sort in IE.
Most of my favorites are in there own folders.

Hi Kubie,

I already tried that, and unfortunately I don't have the option to Sort by Name come up. I went to your supplied link to see if I missed anything, but I didn't. I fill out the MS survey and stated what the problem was and an idea to correct it (meaing, How do you get the missing Sort by Name option on the right click.)

TwoRails

PS: still get get used to your "new" old name!!

OK, I just figured it out !!!

It doesn't work when you click on the Favorites ICON on the icon toolbar. It DOES work if you click on the Favorites option on the Menu Bar !!!

Yippie !!

Well heck, no wonder!!
I always open the favorites to scroll down, click anywhere on the box and then sort by name. I've never clicked on the menu bar or other.

I don't go up there either, but at least it fixes it for the other way -- I'm all sorted now!
