Running Exe's

How can i install a link to run an exe file without the option of save or open being displayed when the link is clicked.

ie If i want to have a file run and upgrade a customers ie browser when the customer clicks on the upgrade button.

You can't. There is a VERY good reason for this. I could make a virus, then direct you to a page that would auto-run my virus. You just have to instruct your customers to click open.

Cowboy is right. Not only can you not do this, you should not want to. ALWAYS try to instill good habits in your clients. That way they will not do something foolish in the future by clicking on some link they should not.

Glad someone finally responded to this....

I wanted to ask why you wouldn't WANT someone to know they were taking on an .exe file. Doesn't sound kosher to send such files without the knowledge of the receiver.

Just an opinion and curiosity. Why would you do such a thing Simfal?

I'm only assuming, but it would be nice sometimes to do things like upgrade browsers automatically without having to try and walk through a user. As most people here already know, some users aren't the most computer savy people out there. So it would be a lot easier that way.
