Hi setfree,
Don't think Hotmail is Pop3 accessable. I think it is web based only. |

Yep, it's web based only, unless you setup Outlook Express which you can use with your Hotmail account.

Even with Outlook Express I believe it's a HTTP server, not a POP3.

I've noticed in Outlook 2000/XP there is no option to add the hotmail account. In Outlook Express you can add the hotmail aco**** easy, but not in the Office edition. Anybody know how to add hotmail to the office outlook?

Hi UFO70, and welcome to PCMech,
As far as I know, there is no way to add Hotmail to Outlook 2000. It is a feature only offered in Outlook Express. |

lpc300 is correct. There is no option to add hotmail to Outlook until the 2002 version.

http://office.microsoft.com/assistan...olhotmail.aspx There are limitations to what you can do with it, but there a lot limitations with using web based email. Last edited by Tuf; 08-07-2002 at 03:43 PM. |

You're right. Big time limitations. That article just shows how to put the www.hotmail.com website in Outlook. There must be a ways to retreive hotmail and put it in Outlook 2000/XP. What about a redirector/forwarder to another account?

Bottom line - if it ain't POP3 or IMAP, it's not going to work with Outlook 2K. Get a Yahoo account and pay $30 a year for POP3 access to it.

I don't use hotmail but you may be able to redirect it to a real (pop3) account. You would just have to look and see if they offer that as an option. No more dependable than hotmail is I think I would look into getting a real account somewhere else. There aren't a many options for free mail service as there once was but if you search around a little there are some left.

Try myrealbox.com - they offer free POP3 and IMAP accounts.
