What Email programs do you have? If you are using Outlook, you can set it up to receive two email addresses. If you go to Tools>Accounts>Add and set up the addresses. It can pick up a work address, hotmail address etc.

Like Alaron said, you can configure Outlook Express (and Outlook) to support multiple accounts (multiple e-mail addresses). Just follow the instructions like he suggested.

Not in Outlook 97, you can set it up to receive all address but all messages go into the same in-box. just a side note Outlook 97 had so many problems that MS sent out free upgrades to Outlook 98 to regestered users. In Outlook Express 5 or 6 You can set up as many e-mail accounts as you want, go to Identities and add a new one, they must have different names. You have to switch between the identities to send and receive mail for that account. All mail is delivered to seperate in-boxes. I have 5 setup, one for every member of my family(2 for me, personal and business)

The easiest way is to set up 2 identities in OE, that way everything is kept separate. Outlook 97 is not very good, Outlook 2000 was a major improvement.

What I do is set up sub-mailboxes and use rules to funnel messages to the appropriate mailbox based on the e-mail account. It works fine, and you don't have to mess around with different identities.

Have you considered opening a web based email account like at yahoo or somewhere? That may be the answer rather than having two email programs. Web based email is easy to check from anywhere, you don't have to be at home or work, you can be out of town using someone else's computer. It's always accessible and easy to use and free.
Just a thought for keeping things separate. I keep my personal email on my computer but some business email on a yahoo account. Works very nicely for me. Texas2Step |

How do you set up sub-mailboxes and use rules to funnel messages to the appropriate mailbox based on the e-mail account.

Depends on which program you have decided to use. I'm fond of Outlook 2000. Outlook 2002(XP) is also good. There are other good programs available such as Eudora.
In Outlook 2000 or newer you can make a rule to send mail addressed to particular address to a particular folder. I have three addresses that have seperate inboxes so to speak. You can only have one inbox by name but other than that you can do just about anything you want. |

You can also go to the link below and setup a free e-mail accout that will Auto-Forward any E-Mails it gets to your present E-mail Address. One advantage is that these will show up as FWD E-Mails on your Outlook Inbox.
Just make sure that you select one that has "yes" in the "Forwards" column. http://fepg.net/providers.html |
