My Cable internet connection is down.

Last night I finally got around to installing adaware on my computer. (Kazaa is driving me nuts)

I did a scan of my drives, and removed every instance of spyware. I then copied the fake spyware .dll into my kazaa directory and C:\windows\system. Then I changed my limitbitrate to 0, so I can download higher quality music.

After all of this, I downloaded a song to make sure everything worked. Everything worked fine, so I shut down the computer and went to bed.

I got a call from my wife this morning, and she is all pissed off, because the cable modem doesn't work. She can't get on the net or download music from kazaa (her favorite passtime).

I told her to use the old dial up modem, so she could check her mail. She logged on with AOL (ugghhh), and everything was fine.

Why would the regular modem work, but not the cable modem?

Also, I had her restore the adaware backup, change the limitbitrate back to 1, and remove the fake .dll files. After all of this, the cable modem still doesn't work, and kazaa won't even fire up anymore. It sounds like the restore didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

It's also possible that your cable is just down. Have you called your cable provider? Also, power cycle your modem. Double check your network settings. Make sure nothing there was removed.

Thanks for your help Cowboy, but I found out the problem.

My cable company shut my service off, because they haven't received payment. They haven't been receiving my internet payment, because I have been paying the stupid cable company. Meanwhile AT&T cable is getting double payments, and AT&T internet has been receiving no payments.

Thanks for your help anyway. You can't help stupid.
