Zaney;
You are good at 39.99, and I see your in PA as I am also and pay the same with verizon. I have had it almost 2 years, and see a new subscriber right now will pay 49.99. I also checked around on the web at least for my area and 49.99 is the cheapest I saw. Some are asking 59.99. I hope verizon doesn't up me to the current rate either, as I signed up for the 1 year commitment which is long gone, so they could probably raise me if they want to, but at least I get to keep the dsl modem. I see you are cable though, and in my area is Adelphia, and I believe they are getting 59.99 or more after three months @ 19.99 for new subscribers!

Cool

Cable $44.95 from Insight. I get a price break of $10.00 thru the end of 2002 due to bundled cable package. I'm looking for a increase Janruary because of the switch to AT&T after Excite@Home failure. Hope it's not too bad. My dial up here is really crap. 26.4 about it for dial up where I live.

ATTbi w/o modem rental is $34.95/month here in West Michigan. I can hardly wait to find out what they say once I get my DirecTV dish up -- can't find any pricing for broadband w/o cable service -- should be interesting.

I pay about fifty bucks for DSL on my phone bill. So you really never know because they have stuff in about eighty different places on the bill.

The nice thing I Like though is paying for it rather than giving them access to my credit card or checking account!!

I pay $55 a month for 1.5/384 DSL. I get a static IP and 5 email addresses. I actually prefer to have it on my credit card since I love racking up those miles

Yeah, my 44.50 supposedly gets me 1500/256, actually get about 1900/sec down and only 150 up. Would much rather have that 300+ upload even if I only got 1000 down!

$42.95 AT&T Broadband - owning my modem - otherwise it would be $3 more per month. They just offered me increased speeds for a hefty $82.95 a month (3.5M down - 384K up)

I'd have to say that right now, I wouldn't even want 3.5 down (unless it was for the same price as I pay now). I mean, how many sites out there do you think could really allow you to take advantage of that kind of speed? I know there are some, but I just don't think it would be worth the money. I wish I could have 1.5 down and up for a reasonable price. Maybe someday..

I agree - most web servers are limited to 500 KB by default. I was on the former @Home network and they had this speed. It was faster than what I have now but spending so much money for the additional speed is just not worth it. A 100 meg download now takes 1-2 minutes more - I can live with that.

I got an RCN package-type deal. I get cable internet with up to four POP email addresses, TV with like 400+ channels, and phone with free local and voicemail for about $110-$125 a month. The only thing is no hosting allowed (although you can) but its dynamic IP through a DHCP server.

I used to have ATTbi/RoadRunner and owned the cable modem. Be careful when considering buying your modem. At the time I bought, the discount was $10/month if I owned, and the modem cost $200. So in 20 months it paid for itself. Now ATTbi is only giving $3 off. Assuming the modem costs the same as before, it'll take over SIXTY months to make up the cost.

When I get back on cable, I'm definately renting the modem. That way, if something breaks, I get a new replacement.
