A friend has an HP computer running Win Me/AOL/IE 5.5. About a month ago he could no longer access his bank account logon while on line. The only thing I have found common is that he cannot access any web site that requires 128 bit encription. Here is what I have tried:
Uninstalled and reinstalled AOL Attempeted to Repair IE 5.5 Installed IE 6.0 Ran Repair on IE 6.0 Compared his IE security setting against my computer Went to Microsoft Web Site downloaded and installed 128 bit enc. Had him logon under my account to MSN and try (didn't work) Even after all above he still gets a message "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" All other web pages work fine. Any ideas other than a complete wipe and reinstall? This is unrelated but do HP restore disk give an option to refresh Windows or just to restore to "new" conditon. I had him boot from the restore disk and "restore to new" was the only option on the boot screen and he was afraid to continue. Thanks |
