Question Internet/Network

I,m planning on opening a business in which people can access the internet. But there's no cable or DSL where I'm planning to locate my business. The only choice will be dial up or satellite. Do I need to have a single line per computer to keep it fast ? How many computers can I have connected thru satellite without affecting speed? This will be in the caribbean where hurricane season may affect satellite communication. What kind of hardware/program would I need? Any help ,Thanks.

Is this going to be like an internet cafe or are you actually going to become a sort of ISP? Most internet cafes would have at LEAST Cable or DSL. That's minimum. You would probably want a T1 or higher depending on the number of computers. Satellite is going to be the fastest option for you (without contracting through the phone company), but even that will not be fast enough if you start adding more than a few computers.

yes,I'm planning on internet cafe.I would like to have at least 5 computer connected to the internet but I don't have enough knowledge on network. what's the max amount of computer I can have connected to satellite before any change in speed? phone lines are about $15 monthly plus account.some ips let you use more than one screen name at once.

If you are going to be operating an Internet cafe, you need some type of commercial account, be it broadband of some sort or a dedicated line from the local telecom. Operating a cafe off a residential account is a big no-no and will probably be shut down by the provider as soon as they see what you are doing. 5 machines aren't much, a satellite or low-end DSL line should handle that just fine - as would a 256k fractional T1. Dual ISDN might be a bit weak unless you get 2 of them. If you are going to be online gaming in the cafe, a satellite has too much lag, you need something ground-based.
