Can't send attachments throught Hotmail

I only have two email accounts. I use Hotmail only for my junk mail but every time I try to send an attached file (photo, file etc.) I get an error message telling me that Hotmail was unable to include the attached file.
This happens all the time with hotmail but I've never had a problem sending attachments through outlook express.
The file(s) are only about 48 KB.
Does anyone know of another free email service where I can send attchments ( I choose not to use Outlook Express when sending some messages) easily or is there a way to fix this hotmail problem?

Thanks in advance

I have never had that problem with Hotmail.

Maybe it has a virus in the attatchment??

Hotmail scans attatchments for viruses, but I have never tried to attatch an infected file, so I don't know the reaction of Hotmail.

I run my Antivirus regularly (Panda Platinum) and have no (known) viruses. In fact I ran my AV just before I tried sending an attachment today.
