It's possible the page you're trying to view uses scripting, and your browser is set to not allow scripting. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security and reset to Medium. If it works then that was it. You can then go back and add more security if you're so inclined.

Encountered this problem on another forum. After many attempts by several people to solve the problem with no success, he posted that he had downloaded "TCP/IP Optimizer" from Speed Guide and it fixed the problem.
He didn't add any details so I don't know how it fixed it but it sounds like it's worth a shot. Good luck! |

What do you mean by "can't access"? Is it a 401, 403, or 404 error?

I don't think MS has an update for M$ Java Virtual Machine anymore, but I could be wrong. At least there were not any tonignt and I had to get updates on three XP installs.

Also, make sure you have Flash installed. With so many Web Sites using Flash, they will not load unless you do.

Well, I accessed all of the sites on a T1 line and on a 56K. They loaded fine. I also did see that they had neither flash nor java applets, so that eliminates that solution.
Do you have any firewalls or Norton Internet Security running? |

it seems that ive got a customised version of ie6 supplied by freeserve.
dixons currys and pc world are all the same company and have something to do with freeserve. not owned this pc long and previous owner had freeserve as his isp, so i tried to uninstall it but it still has microsoft internet explorer provided by freeserve along the top of page. maybe this has something to do with my problem. downloaded ie6 tonight and reinstalled it but still have same problem and freeserve is still at the top. |
