Comcast High Speed - How is it?

Hi,

I'm considering (or desperately wanting) a broadband connection. I have already have Comcast's cable service, and I'm being bombarded by their marketers to consider their High Speed Internet service. I may get it next month, or I might get it next year. My question is: how good are they compared to other services?

Their prices seem ok. Do they good costomer service? Are their speeds (bandwidth) decently consistant?

Most importantly, can I get the service to split into three computers with a router (I'm thinking D-Link DI-704P) without paying for two extra IPs every month?

I would appreciate any information.

Thanks.

I use the dlink DI-604 router for exactly that purpose. Sorry, no comcast info, speeds vary in diff areas depending on how many people are on.

i use comcast, i have no promblems since i have had it also have cable service it is around 40 bucks(internet only) here in pa, so as far as customer service when i first got started i had trouble with setup and they were pretty quick with the service,

as far as speeds i dont have software to detect my speeds but i have fast loads and all no promblems,,,i dont play online games so cant help there if you do,,

overall not bad just wish prices would come down for their cable customers but from what i hear they are raising mine 15 bucks

argh!!!!

Well - what's the alternative in your area? You may want to see if you can get DSL and from whom, compare the price and the bandwidth.

I haven't looked at other options, but I'm sure there aren't many. We only just got Comcast's service in this area recently. We live across a river (seperated from the main section of the city) and companies are taking their time stretching the service over to us.

I'll look around. Thanks for the ideas.

I have Comcast High Speed. I too had problems at first but that was because I bought my own modem instead of renting the one they have and it took them a long time to program it from the office. Since then it has been very good for me. I think it is fast but then again I had AOL and in my area that was really slow.
