Firewalls ERRRRRRR

Me and my girl friend are trying to talk using windows messanger (we also tried several others). But the problem is we are both in seperate colleges with different firewalls and it wont work. Does anyone know a program or know how I can work around the firewalls so we dont use all of our cell phone minutes any more?

You're behind a proxy server(s), not firewalls, they are a little different.

All you need is the proxy information and you should have no problem. Most if not all schools give that information to their students.

Open the messenger window, go to tools > options > connection > select HTTP proxy and fill in the fields exactly like how you did for configuring IE.

Contact your schools LAN administrator -- they'll tell you what you need to do.

Forget Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo, and AIM. Each one is different and mostly a pain when you're behind a firewall or proxy. I use Trillian and I have never had a problem connecting. you can also have one program and still talk to all your friends and family that use those OTHER programs since Trillian connects to all the services. Get it here --> http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/index.html

I don't agree, all of the apps mentioned above work even if you are behind a proxy server, all you have to do is to configure the app correctly.
