Unhappy Outlook Express IE6 lost link

The title pretty much says it. When I click on the mail icon in the toolbar of IE it wants to open Outlook, not express. I've tried to change to Outlook Express in the Programs Tab of Tools->Internet Options but it doesn't show Express and it won't let me type it in. I'm stumped.

Click on "Tools" then "Internet Options". Then click the "Programs" tab and change the Email option to Outlook Express.

Thanks for the reply. However, that's the problem. Express doesn't show in the dropdown and I can't type anything in.

Go into Outlook Express. Click "Tools" then "Options" then the "General" tab. At the bottom, can you click on the "Make Default" next to the Mail Handler item?

Tried that too. It acts like it's "taking". I get the apply button activated but when I go to use it, it's not the default again. I know this doesn't sound right. Hope you know what I mean.

Thanks, Dave22. I just read your link and it looks like there are some things I haven't tried yet. I'll try when I get home this evening. For some reason, I have a great deal of difficulty finding stuff on the knowledge base :-)

Don't feel bad. It takes years of practice! hehehe

...and maybe I'm just oblivious, but it seemed like their old KB yielded better results. Oh well.

Thanks Dave 22. That KB link solved the problem. Although the directions didn't work exactly as the article said, I was able to register OE and it's working through IE again. Don't know what I did to cause the problem in the first place but as I often say "I'll take blind dumb luck over skill, any day."

Thanks again.
