How can I recieve hotmail mail in Eudora Pro 4.2? Are there special things I need to enter in the options for the mail server?

I don't think Eudora is capable of using a HTTP mailserver - just POP3 and maybe IMAP.

Just out of interest:

Why is that correct that only OE can retrieve Hotmail?

Are there no other clients that can access HTTP email servers or is Hotmail somehow unique from a generic HTTP service?

Thanks,

David.

I am not aware of any other e-mail clients that are capable of logging in to a http mail server - and Hotmail is unique, you can't log into Yahoo's http mail servers with OE. Looks like M$ added this ability to Hotmail and OE to make a nice package that will keep people in the family, so to speak. They probably did it so they could get rid of MSN's POP servers and move everyone over to Hotmail without killing OE.

Send a message via AIM to Alaron
Go up to Tools> Accounts> New> and choose Mail. It will guide you through the process for setting up Outlook to retreive your Hotmail.

Microsoft should have made Outlook 2000 or XP capable of accessing Hotmail; you can view hotmail through Outlook but it acts just like any web browser. I just use yahoo now.

I used MSN for a number of years until they started trying to force me to web based mail. When I called to cancel they said I could continue using POP3 mail since I was canceling and gave me a number to call. I canceled anyway. I figured they would just try again and even if they didn't I don't like those kind of tactics.
