outlook logon
hello
my outlook express 5 is prompting me for a logon user name i never changed anything,the only thing i did was try to remove splash screen from an earlier post and it started doing it.is there a way to stop this thankyou |

did you put the password it? did it accept it? if it accepts the password, next time it pops up just click "save password"

hi homer thanks for replying ,i dont know what happened i open up my email it asks me for a password.what the he** i just used it, all of a sudden it asked me for a password.i never made a password why is it asking me for one.

you never made a password to access your e-mail? are you sure? that doesn't seem right to me.

no i didnt,what i did was post a thread on how do i get rid of my hp splash screen i was told on the thread to go into my msdos.sys file and add logo=0 i did this and it didnt work. so i removed it again, and when i went to use my email it was asking for a password.i cant see the connection between what i did and my email

Please be more specific - exactly when is it asking for a username and password? When you try to download your mail - or try to open OE? Username and password is required to download mail - thats in your Accounts settings - but if it's asking for a username when you simply try to open OE you have multiple profiles or identities and you might want to look in the Mail applet in control panel.

i click on outlook express and it goes directly into my inbox and try to download ,then the password box appears i dont have a password never made a password.i used the email half hour beforethis happened.

Okay - ALL email accounts have a password - it was probably stored and you may have lost your stored passwords when you were fighting your viruses. It should be the same password you use to log on to your ISP.

finally figured it out, ididnt put a password in or i coudnt remember, so i removed my identity and then used the backup i created earlier for my reinstall and it had my account settings in there.
