What's up with IE????

I use the IE browser and it's been acting strange lately. I have an email account with Yahoo, and sometimes I won't be able to access the account. The IE browser stalls and stalls, taking forever, until it just times out. I thought it was just something with yahoo, but it's not. Because if I switch Netscape, I can get in! Any ideas??

Hi Kassia

I don't visit the Internet forum often, & I noticed that your post has been up for a while without a response yet...

So, I'll give it a go.

The quickest fix:
Try running the IE repair option from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information and from the "Tools" menu, choose IE Repair. If your browser isn't recent, you won't see the repair option. In that case, you might try just downloading a copy of the most recent (IE6). Downloading a recent version is not a quick fix, though, especially if you don't have broadband. Not long at all on DSL though.

Another thing to check is your 'Connections" tab in "Internet Options" (in Control Panel). Do the settings look the same as when you first set up?

And you can also try deleting any old messages and emails in your email client (that you don't want anymore), and also clearing your Internet Temporary files, just in case they are getting a little huge and slowing things down.

Good Luck
. . . Gary

Hi Kassia,

That's what mine was doing. I installed IE SP1 and it is much improved. You may want to try it.

catch23: That doesn't address how to fix IE. We try to be helpful here. Can I ask you to please read the site FAQ so you are familiar with how we operate here?
