Internet Phone
My girlfriend will be spending 5 months in Italy. Is there a reliable servicec whereby i can call her from my computer? I would want to call her phone, not another computer. I am aware that I will have to pay, just hopefully nothing close to what I would be charged using my phone. Thanks.
edit: I have broadband and will get a microphone. Last edited by Texuspete00; 09-13-2002 at 12:36 PM. |

I understand that Italy used to have a lot of free Internet access. I don't know if it still does. But if your friend can get access and can get to a site like talknation.com which allows you to set up private voice chat rooms then you could simply converse over the Internet for free.
This is the way I used to speak to friends in foreign countries for free. I used the voice chat site called hearme.com which no longer exists and then later I used their voice java applet on my own web site to make it easier. If you can find a voice java applet and set up your own web site with it then that would be the best. Yahoo also has a voice chat section which also allows for private rooms. |

Sweet, I'll try that. It seems those other sites charge a little more than calling cards when you call a cell phone. 4 cents a minute to residential, 29 for cellphones. My card cost 24 cents to either homes or phones. She says many don't have regular phones up there. Go figure.
