My money's on System Works. Get rid of it and see if the problem goes away.

To Xayd
Tks for reply. Machine has corrected after downloading Office XP Service patch 2. Pure guesswork. However not for the first time I have been told System Works creates more problems than it solves and I am definitely ridding myself of it. Best wishes. |

Doug: I agree that System Works can cause a lot of headaches, but the antivirus is a good package - after you uninstall, you might see if you can reinstall just the antivirus.

Thanks glc. Unfortunately System Works does not have anti virus as a stand alone. So I have unstalled System Works but rightaway have installed Norton ASV so all should be well. Actually machine has behaved after installing Office XP Service pack - quite a fluke on my part. Could it be that there was a fault in the Registry. Best wishes to you and tks. Doug Power

I'm guessing, but either a registry problem or a stuck windows installer/installshield process might do that.
