self-hosting

im thinking about hosting my own web site on my computer. how would you guys go about doing so? how do i redirect my domain name to my computer? also, how do i set up mySOL database for hosting phpbb forums?? thx in advance!!

The first thing you do is read the terms of service for your broadband provider - most residential accounts that I know of specifically prohibit this. The next thing you do is get a static IP - dynamics are a pain to keep DNS records updated for.
