Why does using TCP/IP cause problems over satelitte networks?

I have to give an presentation on this next week to a group of people and I'm stuck, my boss is gonna go mad. I'm not a techie but he doesn't care.

Here is what I have to explain:

'Why using TCP/IP to acheive high data rates over satelitte network can be difficult'

I have to include these points:

IP Thouroughput,
IP Time to live
IP fragmentation
TCP thoroughput and thoroughput expectations,
TCP sequence Numbers,
TCP Transmission Window
Slow Start
Congestion avoidance

Can anyone help here? or direct me to some source of information?

I know, it's not a small list is it. But I'm the only one that can give the presentation. And I need to do it because I've been on sick leave for the past week and he's just looking for an excuse to fire me.

Thanks, will check back later.
