Can Yahoo ruin DSL?

Lately I've noticed that Yahoo and SBC have partnered up to provide DSL. Is it possible to think that this will be the "AOL" of DSL, or is it worth signing up for?

*Is it possible to ruin DSL?*

I just had to deal with a system last week that had SBC Yahoo dialup - it's worse than AOL. It doesn't use DUN, no POP mail, popups up the wazoo.

Indeed it is, I've seen it.

I wouldn't sign up for it if my life depended on it.

SBC "BLOWS" I have them for phone service, they took over Snet her in Conn. Just to show you how much I hate them. A few months ago when I signed up for dsl my first bill with Modem, install and all the crap that goes with getting new service my bill was $600 that included all above plus current phone bill. I paid them 400 up front and when I got my next statement they were going to shut my service because of the balance.

I called customer service and they told me that ever since SBC took over SNET they have been treating their customers like crap. The women told me I had good credit with them and that I would not have received that notice if they were still my carrier, but because they were baught by SBC there was nothing I could do except pay the balance. I hear alot of people hat that CO.

Get this...

After installing the SBC/Yahoo Advertising Bombardment Interface (tm) on your computer, if you try and go run the internet connection wizard, you get this.

"You are not allowed to run this application".

!!!

The system I was talking about last week was an HP Pavilion - I had to run the restore disk (no format, Win98se) just to get standard DUN connectivity back. Bad, bad, bad, bad. It still suffered IE lockups, the only way to fix it was an inplace upgrade to Win2K. Even AOL, free Netzero, or MSN doesn't trash systems out like this.
