Cable Protocol
I have a cable internet connection. I was wondering what the protocol was so I can setup up McAfee firewall to use it. Isn't it PPP??? Thanks for the help.

I personally would forget about the McAfee firewall and use Zone Alarm - its a lot more user friendly. I was a beta tester for Conseal Private Desktop - which became McAfee Firewall after a buyout - it was not a very user friendly product.

Ok...That is what I will do. I will uninstall it. Won't that be fun.
I hate it. The only reason that it is installed is because it came with VirusScan 6.

Be aware that McAfee Virus Scan can do some pretty strange things too - in my experience it destabilizes Windows and corrupts easily. It's the only major antivirus package that I do *not* recommend. Tis a shame - several years ago it was the best antivirus software out there.

You got that right GLC
I used McAfee at one time but with each update the system got less and less stable. I personally like AVG from Grisoft.

Another vote for AVG. Just make sure you manually do your updates regularily. Seems if you don't always have the active scan activated, you don't automatically get the updates either.
McAfee has turned into a monster for home users, just more bloatware, along with Norton. McAfee would have long since died if MS hadn't picked it up for their Hotmail scanner. I don't envy the techs at Hotmail though, I bet they have their share of headaches with it too. |
