html code for page, so that search engine could recognize

when buildig a website, what is the code needed so that it can be recognized by search engines (Yahoo!, HotBot, etc.)? for instance, if i build a website about computers, when i go to yahoo's search engine, i want to be able to type in computers and have my site pop up.

those are called meta tags, i believe.

put this in your header

|meta http-equiv="keywords" content=""|

and replace the | with >

the keyword is what you want it to be categorized as, like "computers," and the content should be your site or something.

Read this guide on Search Engine Submission Tips. Metatags are not really used all that much any more. Other things are more important. This is pretty good guide to get you moving in the right direction.

these days, everyone uses google.even yahoo and aol use google.i believe they update their every 28 days(read about this 2 months ago)
meta codes arent really used by search engines anymore.google, for example, run a virtual contest for keywords and put the most revelent sites on the top of searches.also, dont make the site so fancy;search engines may not be able to read your site info.

ah!
Google is faster at updating than they are about getting the site initially listed. It really doesn't matter how fancy your site is as long as you follow some good search engine optimization. That and having everyone and his brother link to your site.
